The Confusion Between Business Intelligence and Big Data

November 25, 2018 / GuidesFor Team

Business Intelligence and Big Data have certainly been buzzwords in the world of information technology. Most people think that these two are the same. Despite their similarities, there are huge differences between the two. Dataversity differentiates the two. Business intelligence is a” systematic way for enterprises to ask questions and get useful responses from their information systems,” while Big Data “is thought of as dealing with huge amounts of data but it is broader in its scope particularly in exploring previous unknowns. Often, the goal is learning what questions to ask by sifting through the enterprise’s own operational and machine data.”

Business intelligence deals and sifts the known data while big data formulate questions that are unknown. The power of big data to provide questions based on existing data is powerful as it provides more insight to business owners. However, it is still best for companies to have business intelligence and big data at the same time. ~~ Lornajane Altura
